EDUCATION

EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION

"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."
- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Education looks a lot different at Camp Duncan. A vast majority of girls in our attendance have failed to achieve success in a traditional school setting. But this is not because they are incompetent or unable to learn.

At Camp we believe all children have an innate desire to learn. If they are not learning we need to figure out why. Normally, previous trauma, behavioral issues, or learning styles not suitable for the child have attributed to their learning deficit. Once a child starts to remove the barriers that prevented him from excelling, he will begin to thrive.

3:1 STUDENT TO TEACHER RATIO

In one calendar year, girls typically advance two academic years.
